This album is the culmination of a lot of hard work by a lot of different people; I would like to thank the musicians, the songwriters, the background vocalists, and finally my producer. Without their dedication, "Otis . . . the Album" would not be the reality it is becoming. With all my heart, Thank You !!!
As you, the listener... listen to the music and the lyrics. I hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor. Please feel free to post your comments, as the feedback will help on my next endeavor of bringing you something you can enjoy again.
Starting at the young age of 8, Otis C. Truax brought a new light to music in Louisville, KY as he would perform in local retirement homes for the elderly, as well as at his local church. “I just loved to sing,” recalls Otis. As he grew and matured, so did his love for country music. By high school, Otis was writing poetry, which led to a melody, and finally self-written songs he would play and sing for family and friends.
“I wanted to hear my songs on the radio.” This deep love of music led Otis C. Truax to the Country Music City of Nashville, TN, where he met Ray Dogget of Entertainment Success Unlimited. Mr. Dogget guided Otis, and a 2 song demo was created. Otis told me, “I woke up one morning to hear my name on the radio saying I was coming up next.” Otis C. Truax's song, “Loss Of Faith” was played on the radio stations program which they called “Keep It or Trash It.” The stations audience would then call in with their choice. Imagine his excitement as folks called in live, on air, to tell the host to “keep it!”
“My goal had been met. I went to my real job with a very light heart and worked for the next 20+ years. Then the recording bug bit me again,” says Truax with a little laugh. Keeping up with his voice, Otis never stopped singing, and would sing karaoke in local bars just on the outskirts of Nashville, TN. He also had another force that encouraged him to pursue his love for music once again. After his 11 year relationship ended, Otis met a woman whose passion and talent for music rekindled the desire to get back to the studio to put together some duets. After hearing a sample of Otis' lovely companion, Curt Ryle of Big Matador Records was eager to get her into the studio to record her own album, which led Mr. Ryle to Otis.
Curt and Otis are currently collaborating on Otis C. Truax's record, “Otis... The Album.” I'm just enjoying myself, and having fun,” says Otis. This year is going to be a big one for Otis C. Truax.
